Instructions for authors

Safety, Work and Rescue Magazine publishes scientific studies, original papers, short communications, review articles, case reports, book reviews, and event reports focused on issues of occupational safety, work at heights, scuba and commercial diving, rescue operations, and related activities. It accepts unpublished articles in Czech, Slovak, or English, which undergo a blind peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers. The identity of the author is anonymized for the reviewers, and the reviewers’ identities are also kept confidential. The Scientific and Editorial Board holds full authority to decide on the acceptance and publication of articles (or their rejection and non-publication), considering the peer-review process.

SWARM – Safety, Work and Rescue Magazine is an international, peer-reviewed online journal focusing not only on the theory and research of work and rescue issues at heights, and underwater but also on their practical application. The magazine publishes scientific studies, original papers, short communications, review articles, case reports, book reviews, and event reports addressing occupational safety, work at heights, scuba and commercial diving, rescue operations, and related topics. It accepts previously unpublished articles in Czech, Slovak, or English, subjected to a peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers.

Submission of Contributions

Manuscripts should be submitted as attachments in MS Word format, formatted according to the article template, via email to swarmSWARM - Safety, Work And Rescue Magazinecraa.cz.

Fees

Authors are not charged any fees (e.g., APC or others) for reviews, processing, or publication of their articles. A t the same time, authors are not paid for their contributions.

Editorial Processing

Submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the editorial board for alignment with the journal’s focus. After anonymizing the author’s identity, the manuscript is sent to two selected independent reviewers.

Upon approval of the manuscript by both reviewers and completion of the peer-review process, the editorial board sends the reviewers’ comments to the author for revisions. The revised manuscript is then prepared for publication. During preparation, any member of the editorial board may provide further feedback. The editorial board does not perform linguistic or grammatical editing but reserves the right to make minor stylistic changes to the text.

Peer-Review Process

Upon acceptance of a submitted manuscript, the editorial board forwards the anonymized manuscript to two reviewers for a “double-blind peer-review.” Reviewers may approve, suggest revisions, or reject the manuscript.

Reviewers are expected to evaluate the manuscript promptly, focusing on its relevance, professionalism, and compliance with formal requirements. Any objections must be supported by arguments or references to existing studies. Reviewers do not perform linguistic or grammatical editing.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting a contribution, the author (or corresponding author in the case of multiple authors) confirms agreement with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Policy. The author(s) must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the editorial board.

Authors are required to address reviewers’ comments promptly. If they disagree with a specific comment or argument, they must contact the editorial board with an explanation of their disagreement. Ensuring linguistic and grammatical accuracy is the author’s responsibility.

Changes in Authorship

If it becomes necessary to add, remove, or rearrange authors in a manuscript, the request must be addressed to the editorial board. The request should include the proposed change, its justification, and, in the case of multiple authors, a statement of consent from all authors. Publication of the article will be delayed until the authorship issue is resolved.

Submission Details

Manuscripts should be sent as attachments in MS Word format, formatted according to the article template, via email to swarmSWARM - Safety, Work And Rescue Magazinecraa.cz.

The submission should include the author’s (or authors’) full name(s), academic title(s), email address(es), contact phone number(s), affiliation(s), and ORCID identifier(s), if available.

Submitted manuscripts must include:

  • The title (without abbreviations),
  • The author’s name and affiliation,
  • An abstract and keywords,
  • The main text with figures, tables, graphs, etc., and
  • A list of references.

Abbreviations used in the text must be defined at their first occurrence. The ENTER key should be used only at the end of paragraphs. Less important text can be placed in parentheses () or numbered footnotes.

Sources should be provided in square brackets [] in the order they appear in the text and listed in the same order in the bibliography. After the citation number, specify where in the source the information can be found (e.g., page number, paragraph, etc.). Direct quotes should be placed in quotation marks and written in 50% black.
