Editorial

Dear Readers,

it is with great pleasure that I announce the release of the second issue of the scientific journal SWARM – Safety, Work And Rescue Magazine. Although it comes with a slight delay compared to the original plan, we are delighted to present it to you.

The first issue, published in December 2024, struck like a bolt from the blue – unexpected, yet it reached and impressed everyone of relevance in the field. While this was gratifying, it also created a commitment to maintain, or even raise, the high standard that was set. And it seems we are succeeding.

Whereas most of the articles in the first issue came from authors within CRAA, this second issue also includes contributions from external experts. We are particularly honored that Jiří Hovorka – a doyen and living legend of Czech (cave)diving, who has been documenting accidents of Czechoslovak divers for 60 years – decided to share his findings with SWARM readers. His article provides an overview of these incidents. Another contribution, by Eduard Kolla, Veronika Adamová and Lukáš Zsabo from the University of Žilina, examines how the height of railings influences the risk of falling over them. Equally engaging are the articles of the other authors, each of which is well worth reading. Although it was not intentional, the recurring theme of this issue has become falls.

The SWARM journal is freely available in electronic form at swarm.craa.cz.

If you have any suggestions or comments, I would be happy to hear from you via email at swarmSWARM - Safety, Work And Rescue Magazinecraa.cz.

For now, I wish you a pleasant reading.
